  • Vantage Point has completed Phase 2 installations in Springfield.


November 23, 2021

  • Vantage Point is nearing the end of the Phase 2 cut over portion of the project. If you are a customer in Springfield and haven’t yet scheduled a wiring appointment, please call 1-855-888-7777 and ask for the engineering department.
  • Vantage Point will complete wiring apartment buildings and connecting tenants to fiber this week.

  • Vantage Point is scheduling Phase 2 installations. During these wiring installations, customers will be converted from the old copper system to the new fiber. This stage of the project will last several weeks.

  • Customers will be receiving a letter to notify them that Vantage Point will be contacting them to schedule Phase 2 wiring. This stage of the project will continue for several weeks.

  • Fiber splicers have finished testing the new fibers. The next step is to complete the wiring in the Golden West central office in Springfield.
  • In the coming weeks, Vantage Point will begin Phase 2 installations to connect customers to the new fiber optic network. Before this stage of the project begins, Golden West will send customers a letter to notify them that Vantage Point will be calling to schedule appointments.

  • Splicing technicians have pulled fiber through the conduit at customer premises.
  • The project is moving to the splicing phase, where technicians will connect all the fiber from customer homes and businesses to the main line fibers. Fibers will also be spliced in the Golden West central office.

  • A second plowing crew is going west on 414th St, west of the prison.
  • Cable splicers are working south of the prison.

  • Ripley’s Inc. has a main line crew working 10th and 11th Streets on Chestnut Street.
  • A second main line crew is proceeding south on Chestnut Street. Crews plowing lines, or drops, to homes and businesses are following behind the mainline work.
  • Vantage Point continues to complete Phase 1 inside wiring for customer locations where they were only able to hang clamshells last spring.   • A second main line crew is between 10th and 11th Streets on Chestnut Street. Crews plowing lines, or drops, to homes and businesses are following behind the mainline work.

  • The construction contractor, Ripley’s Inc., has started construction. They have several crews working throughout town plowing mainline fiber, lines to customer premises, and placing vaults.

Project Update

  • Springfield residents will see construction activity starting the week of March 15. Ripley’s Inc., the construction contractor, will be moving in equipment and locating buried utilities. They expect to begin construction the following week if weather permits.
  • Vantage Point continues to complete Phase 1 inside wiring for customer locations where they were only able to hang clamshells last spring. February 24, 2021
Project Update

  • Last spring, a small number of customers had both their clamshell and inside wiring completed before the COVID-19 pandemic led to a halt on inside wiring. Vantage Point installers will be in Springfield for the next several weeks to complete the Phase 1 inside wiring for the remaining customers. Vantage Point will call customers to schedule these installations. During this wiring visit, the technician will come inside the home and install a panel where electronics will be placed. They will follow procedures to reduce the transmission of coronavirus as detailed here.
  • Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2021 as soon as weather permits.

Project Update

  • Last spring, a small number of customers had both their clamshell and inside wiring completed before the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a halt on inside wiring. Vantage Point will be returning to customer premises starting the week of January 25th to complete the Phase 1 inside wiring for the remaining Springfield customers. The contractor will begin calling to schedule appointments next week. During this wiring visit, the technician will come inside the home and install a panel where electronics will be placed.
